Chunky Brownie Batter Banana Toast

Chunky Brownie Batter Banana Toast

Devon made this the first morning we had a jar of Chunky Brownie Batter on the counter and nothing planned for breakfast. She toasted some bread, spread the hummus, put banana on top. We've made it probably thirty times since then. It takes five minutes and it feels like something you're getting away with.

Chunky Brownie Batter Banana Toast

Five minutes. Breakfast, after-school snack, or a dessert that doesn't feel like you're cheating.

What you need:

  • Chunky Brownie Batter hummus
  • 2 slices thick sourdough or whole grain bread, toasted
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced into rounds
  • A drizzle of honey
  • A pinch of flaky salt
  • Optional: a thin layer of almond butter under the hummus, a few mini chocolate chips, or a sprinkle of granola on top

How to build it: Toast the bread until it has real color — you want structure, not just warm. Spread Chunky Brownie Batter hummus generously across each slice while the bread is still hot. Lay banana rounds across the top in a single layer. Drizzle honey over everything. Hit it with a pinch of flaky salt. If you're going further: spread a thin layer of almond butter on the bread before the hummus, or scatter mini chocolate chips over the banana slices before the honey. Eat it right away — this is better warm.

Why it works: The toast gives you crunch and a foundation that holds everything. The hummus gives you richness — cocoa, chocolate, tahini — without the sweetness of Nutella or the guilt of an actual brownie. The banana adds natural sweetness and something soft against the crunch. Honey ties the whole thing together. The flaky salt is not optional — it's what makes it taste intentional instead of thrown together, and it pulls the chocolate flavor forward. The brownie batter chunks give you texture in every bite that straight spread hummus doesn't. It lands somewhere between breakfast and dessert and earns both.

One note: Chunky Brownie Batter isn't in stores. You can find it at the Saturday and Sunday markets — or through Good Club, shipped to your door every month, your flavor choice.
