The High-Protein Hummus Board
Share
This one came from a Saturday after a long market morning. We were hungry but didn't want to cook anything. We pulled out what we had — a jar of Fire-Roasted Red Pepper, some eggs from the week, a few things from the fridge — and built a board. Forty minutes later we were still at the table talking.
The High-Protein Hummus Board
Five minutes of assembly. No cooking required if you keep hard-boiled eggs on hand. High protein, genuinely filling.
What you need:
- One jar of Fire-Roasted Red Pepper hummus (or Original)
- 3–4 hard-boiled eggs, halved
- 4 oz sliced turkey breast or chicken (deli or leftover)
- A handful of almonds or walnuts
- 2–3 oz cheddar, gouda, or havarti, sliced
- A handful of olives
- Cucumber rounds or celery sticks
- Pita wedges or seed crackers
How to build it: Put the open jar of hummus in the center of the board, or spoon it into a small bowl and press a well into the middle. Arrange the halved eggs around it cut-side up. Fold the turkey loosely — don't lay it flat. Fan out the cheese. Fill gaps with almonds, olives, and cucumber. Crackers or pita wedges go around the edges. That's it. You're building a complete meal around the hummus without turning on a burner.
Why it works: The hummus anchors everything with flavor and fat. Hard-boiled eggs, turkey, and cheese cover the protein. Almonds and olives add healthy fat and crunch. Cucumber keeps it from feeling heavy. The Fire-Roasted Red Pepper flavor cuts through the richness of the cheese and meat in a way that plain hummus doesn't. You end up with something that looks like effort and takes five minutes. The kind of thing you put out for company and accept the compliment gracefully.
One note: Original or Fire-Roasted Red Pepper both work here — both are in stores and online. Try them side by side on the same board if you can't decide.
